Sierra is a 4th-year student at the University of Victoria where she is getting her bachelors in human geography with a concentration in urban health and development. Sierra started working with Uganda for Her in September 2017 as an intern and peer educator. During her internship, she started the Pad 4 Her project. The project’s business model employs local women to create the pads, and then the pads are delivered to girls in need throughout Kampala and rural villages. In her short time in Uganda, she saw the need for girls to have access to reusable sanitary pads and opened up her imagination to create this project. Previous to working at Uganda 4 Her she was an English teacher to refugees in Victoria, BC and gained valuable teaching experience, which she has implemented at Uganda for Her.
